Look back at soaps and reality tv: part 2

I seem to get sick of some of the reality shows on tv. Specially the shows on a world famous music channel MTV, theres now a new roadies show that supposed to happen which is supposed to take people to australia. But even though the previous edition of the show is over, there are still nonsense shows like the older roadies contestants talkin about their experiences and fighting over some stale matter noone even cares about. Like wtf, MTV brags about being young and a youngistan crap. Why the hell would people bother about some old creepy affair of two local people. Im getting bored over the love story between Kareena and Saif. And what great are these roadies? Huh....hell...and i wont talk about splits villa..two gays..and some girls....

The other day i watched a clip from the show dadagiri on bindas channel. The female host slaps a male contestant and then right back, the guy hits her back!! Wow! This is definitely cool!..Something i've never seen on any Indian tv channels.

But i wonder what more controversy these channels can create to raise their TRP's. Better i'm sitting in front of my computer watching whatever content i like.

Look back at soaps and reality tv: part 1

After a long time Indian channels seem to reject these old saas bahu serials. I myself was quite relieved to know that star plus had decided to get the serial kyunki....off air. Though the court case is going on, i would feel its quite a good move by the channel.

I was just sitting the other day, thinking about all the old tv serials that used to come on tv. I remember as a kid, my mom watching different serials when I wanted to watch my favorite cartoon, Scooby doo. There were many soaps like saans, daastan. It was when cable tv had come to Goa. There were some nice 1 hour episodes of short stories called rishtey which used to come zee tv. A show, very touching, stories of the common man. I used to love watching them.

I think the show that changed indian television was the emergence of Amitabh Bachchan on the small screen with his show the famous KBC. And then the reality show bandwagon started. Kicking off on channel [V], channel v popstars. this show i think was the first singing reality show that made singers. Ofcourse shows like sa re ga ma and antakshri were n air since the early 90's.

Barack Obama :The change?

Its been a long time since my last post. But its good to be back. well I'm trying to catch up hard on whats happening around the political side of the world and well theres so much happening. The big news :The new president of the United States. Not very surprising a country like India being so excited on the election of the new president. Well I heard the victory speech of Barack Obama and his idealistic views and the quote “Change has come to America,”. Yes, we see the change. Firstly, an African-American gets to top level post in the United States. Its quite a transition that I well have seen. I'm sitting at home chatting on many American internet chat rooms and in the past 2 years that is in around 2006, whenever they the Indian nationality on my profile, I often was abused racially and even booted out. But now its a change. Its stopped and people respect any person. I wonder if this is the new American approach towards humanity. But for now Mr. Obama is busy forming his team. So we will have to wait and watch on the moves that he makes on peace, security, the Iraq issue, the inflation and stock markets. The US has a strong influence on all other countries in the world in policy making. Every decision they make becomes a change maker in the globe. So we will surely know how Mr. President carries his optimistic approach ahead and live up on his "Yes we can" strategy.
